Deaf History

Helen Keller was born June 27th, 1880 in Tuscubia, Alabama. When she was only 19 months old became deaf and blind from high fever.
Her favorable teacher name is Anne Sullivan for lifelong in 1887.
She was learned sign language FIRST word is "water" by finger spelling.
She did went to School for the Blind and other School, learned how to talk, learned to how to lipread with her fingers and Graduated from Radclippe College.
Her teacher Anne was passed away in 1936 and she was passed away in June 1st, 1968 when she was 87 years old.

A few year ago,  I had been watched on tv about The Miracle Worker (1979)  by Melissa Gilbert.

Alexander Graham Bell

Alexander was born on March 3, 1847, in Edinburgh, Scotland.
He was one of the primary inventors of the telephone, did important work in communication for the deaf and held more than 18 patents. invention of the telephone.
He also continued his work with the deaf, establishing the American Association to Promote Teaching of Speech to the Deaf in 1890 , with the objective of promoting oral Communication (which later morphed into the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing).
The Bell Telephone Company was organized on July 9th, 1877.
 He was married a deaf woman Mabel Hubbard in July 11, 1877.
 He died on August 2, 1922, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.

Linda Bove

Linda was born November 30th, 1945, in Garfield, New Jersey to her deaf parent.
She was majored in library Science at Galluedet University and received her Bachelor's Degree in 1968.
She later made her debut on Sesame Street in 1971 - 2003.
 In 1991, she and her husband Ed Waterstreet at founded DeafWest Theater, a theater for the Deaf in Los Angeles.




I didn't know that she was involved Happy Days as Fonzie's girlfriend in 1974.


I taught my children watched about Sesame Street on tv because she was involved it also she used Sign Language as well.

We had a book called Sesame Street Sign Language ABC.
